3 WordPress PlugIns to Reward Your Commentators

One of my favorite things, is when I get comments on my blog. Apparently I am not alone! Commentors tell you that someone has actually taken the time to read your post, and leave a comment. It is a good boost to the ego. I think it is also good for your blog to have a dialogue going on. Your readers can add insight and different points of views to your posts, making them more interesting for everyone.

So recently I have decided to do everything I can to reward my commentators. This was easily accomplished by adding three plugins to my wordpress blogs.

One plugin that is very popular, that I really like to see on other blogs, is Comment Luv.
With Comment Luv, when your visitor enters their URL, the plugin finds their last blog post and inserts a link to it at the end of their comment.

What goes along quite nicely with Comment Luv is Keyword Luv Many commentators like to use their keywords in place of their name. But that can make their whole comment look spammy, and it can be awkward to reply to “Make money online with Adsense”. With keyord luv, your commentators are prompted to enter their name as Kat@ Blogging tips for Webmasters. The plugin separates the name from the keywords. So your name will look like Kat from Blogging Tips for Webmasters. Pretty nifty!

And then, to add the icing to the cake, to make Comment Luv and Keyword Luv truly show Luv to your commentators, make your blog no follow free with theNo Follow Free Plugin. By default, most WordPress blogs will add the no follow tag to commentator’s links. No follow free removes those tags, and lets some link juice flow through to your commentators.

Now do know, that when you add these three WordPress plugins to your blog, you will get a certain number of spammers just wanting the free links. You will need to actively moderate your comments and delete the ones that do not add value to your blog. I know that some people may be coming to my blog and commenting just for the do follow link, but I expect them to give me something of value in return, in a well thought out comment that encourages discussion.

To see how all the plug ins work, leave a comment on any post. But make sure it is a good comment, or it will be deleted!

The comment luv plugin has 2 function. It give the commenter keyword love if he/she uses the keyword in his title. And it gives the blog owner keyword love also.

Because if someone is searching on google for a certain keyword, a commenter might have used it in his title and google would index you for the keyword.

  14. I have to say that I like these features when I see them at other people’s blogs, although I had not yet heard of this keyword luv plugin… It’s neat trying this now…

  15. With so much noise about Keyword Luv, is it possible that some bloggers haven’t heard about it yet? It’s hard to believe but probably true.

We’ve been using it for quite a while and think that every blogger should be as well.

  16. Problem is with using these plugins is that they can attract swathes of people posting on your site just for links. I don’t even use these plugins or WordPress and I still get comemnts from “Web Design Lancaster” and “Cheap Loans”.

I think some people are still afraid of getting a lot of spam. But I moderate all comments and it isn’t that big of a deal.

rewarding readers is a good way to get more readers come back to your sites.

Don’t worry about a lot of spamm coming to your site. The protector is behind you to give a help with a cool protection moderation.

  20. I always see keyword luv and comment luv everywhere as well and didn’t know what they did.

Thanks for the run down. Testing it out now. Thanks.

  22. I always want to comment on Comment Luv, this a great when it works and doesn’t require any work on your part but can be bad if your post title isn’t related to the page you are commenting, it has been found to increase comments and traffic to blogs and their commentators.

  23. keywordluv lets everyone put their real name as well as keywords! Best of both world :)

  24. I’ve wanted to try the nofollow plugin for a while, but I already get quite a lot of spammers as is… I suspect it can be a good thing if you’re just starting a website, but as traffic (and spam) grows you’ll probably want to deactivate it.

  25. ~Kat~ says:

I used to have a problem with spam, but then I installed the WP-Spam Free plugin and it made a huge difference. I no longer get bot spam.
I do get quite a few of those “nice post” comments, but it doesn’t take much time to delete them.

  26. Hi

I like you thought process. I think it is good to encourage good responses to your post. Shows that it has been read and understood properly. With the combination of all three plugins the person who leaves the well ‘thought out’ comment is well rewarded.

I think it also helps other people come back because they know it is going to be an active blog!

wish more people had the same approach…

  27. thanks for this great post but I use blogger as my blogging platform. Can you tell any such plugins for blogger.

  28. I’ve been reading up quite a bit on the do-follow, no-follow arguments. I’m still not sure I get it and was hoping you might explain. Why would a do-follow comment list be better than no-follow. What benefit do you get from the do-follow link that you don’t get from the no-follow one?

I don’t mean to ask a silly question but I’m trying to understand whats important and what’s not.

    Thanks anyway.

  29. ~Kat~ says:

A do follow comment gives you some link juice. Some people think that it can improve your search engine rankings.
I like to offer do follow comments because I get more comments, but you do have to stay on top of the spam. It is not a problem for me, I just delete comments that have no value.

  30. i really like commentluv, see quite a few great blogs using it and really cool way to build a community.

bit cautious about nofollow though after a friend of mine who does SEO professionally said it’s a bad idea. doesn’t it “dilute you link juice”, to quote my friend?

great to see these broken down and enhance the community aspect of a blog

I have never use wordpress .com so I am not sure how much different it is. But If you have the option to install plugins then you should be able to use these plugins.

  34. These plugins are fantastic – a great way to show repsect to your readers and to encourage a bit of debate…sometimes people need a bit of a push/incentive to do so! I’m sure you’ll have seen traffic increase significantly though as a result, at least I hope so!

  35. I am using the Plugins on my blog to make some things pretty easier. I Like SEO plugin which makes my work easier and after reading this post i will be using the plugins on my blogs for sure.Best Regards,Leif

  36. Keyword love is a really excellent plugin because you don’t will more receive comments from “make money” or “insurance” now you receive comments from “John” and “Hanna”

  37. Jessica says:

Plugins are one of the reasons that WordPress is so great… they provide a lot of freedom that you can’t really get with other platforms. I’ll be doing a post on my blog soon all about why WP is great, Anyone’s interested?

  38. ~Kat~ says:

I do get a lot more comments. I know most people are just trying to get a link back, but as long as they offer insightful comments I am OK with that. However, I do delete a lot of spam comments!

  39. Joe says:

I think comment luv and keyword luv is enough but you know that this leads to huge amount of spam mails. But yes for spam you can use akismet protection.

  40. Hi,
Keywordluv gives users motivation to post comments. Yet, content is very important to keep them coming back. In my opinion keywordluv is especially interesting as a tool to draw attention to a relatively new blog.

  41. I always wondered how I could increase my comments on my blogs now by reading this post I believe I am in a good position to do that. Thank you

  42. ~Kat~ says:

You will get lots of comments this way!

  43. ~Kat~ says:

I have quite a few spam plugins installed. Plus I moderate all comments and I am good with the delete key!

  44. This is a great tool for bloggers…all thou it gets difficult to find such blogs that have keywordluv or commentluv enabled. I installed this on my blog and I ended up getting a lot more spam then I wanted. But it is a great way to generate backlinks!

  45. Thank you for this informative post. I always love reading about new tips and techniques for increasing the popularity of my websites. I look forward to reading more from you in the future!

  46. KeywordLuv is really great and very helpful in increasing commentators in one’s site. that’s why there are bloggers who uses this now in their sites..

  47. Great post. It does look kind of silly when the comments are posted by “colon cleanse” or “acai berry” etc… lol. This plugin really makes a lot of sense.

  48. KeywordLuv, CommentLuv and NoFollow Free. I love them all, not only in my SEO efforts, but they’re always the first three plugins I install when I start a new blog (and I have quite a few now!).

  49. Relevant and proper comments can also help us in driving traffic from search engines. As comments are also getting indexed in search engines on regularly basis.
